Rachel Buchanan, Beverly Hills princess turned undercover spy conquers teen love, espionage, and high–stakes shopping in this second adventure of the thrill–packed Spy Goddess manga series.

This time Rachel’s mission takes her and her teenage spy companions to Brazil, where they’ll attempt to intercept the Lance of Mithras before their no-good, power-hungry arch-nemesis, Simon Blankenship, gets his greedy hands on it. Simon is on the loose trying to track down the Seven Talismans of Power in pursuit of world domination, and the only one who can stop him is Rachel! Of course, Blankenship will have to wait while she works on her tan in the land of the bikini wax…takes in carnival, and she’ll need to make some time for a budding romance, too!

Luckily for me I took nine credits worth of Geology in college. I was a History major but had to take science classes and I figured ‘what could be so hard about rocks’? Well, as it turns out if you look at my GPA in those classes, a lot! But one thing I did learn a lot about was Magma, the hot molten lava that comes out of volcanoes and the earth’s core.

So when HarperCollins asked me to convert my Spy Goddess novels into Magma, at first I was confused.

I mean sure, the novels are hot! Some would even say they’re melty! There’s lots of action, lots of suspense and mystery and a megalomaniacal madman that wants to take over the world. The Spy Goddess novels have a little romance, lots of humor and my required amount of stuff blowing up.

But Magma?

I mean how would you print a book out of Magma? More importantly how would you read it? Wouldn’t you burn your fingers trying to turn the pages on a book made out of Magma? Couldn’t that lead to horrible disfiguration and lawsuits?
But since I’m an adventurous sort by nature, I said sure, go ahead! Let’s make Spy Goddess into a Magma series. It’ll be fun….it’ll be…

Oh wait.

It’s Manga, not Magma.

Never mind. (And please buy the book anyway!)
