Dear
Readers,
As you can imagine writers tend to get very excited when a new book
goes on sale. I’m no less guilty of that than anyone. And so today
is another special day for me because my new picture book Daniel
Boone's Great Escape is
now on
sale.
The reasons for my excitement are numerous. Of course, I’m excited
because I think it’s a great story, full of action, adventure and
excitement. It’s also thrilling because this book is illustrated
by my good friend Ard
Hoyt who managed to bring his unique talent and
genius to this work. Most of the time authors don’t meet their
illustrators, so to have this book done by a close friend was a special
treat.
Like all of my picture books, Daniel Boone's Great Escape tells
a story. All of it is true, with my research drawn from hundreds of documents,
autobiographies, and the letters and words of Boone himself. Try to imagine
what he must have felt. He’d been a captive for four months. He
was 160 miles from home. Shawnee Indians were about to attack the settlements
where his friends and family lived. So he escaped. And he eluded capture
and managed to run the equivalent of six and half marathon’s in
four days time. Pretty tough guy. Could you have done it?
I hope you’ll check out Daniel
Boone's Great Escape.
I don’t think you’ll be disappointed. And remember there
is more to come yet this year as September 18 is fast approaching. In
case you’ve forgotten, that’s the day my new novel THE
YOUNGEST TEMPLAR: Keeper of the Grail goes on sale!
But you wouldn’t forget something like that!
Right?
Mike
